ABOUT

This group is naturally diatomic, meaning that they exist as molecules with two atoms: they like to travel in pairs. They're very reactive, and form ionic bonds (become positively or negatively charged) with metals, which are the strongest form of chemical bond. Hopeless romantics.

Sleeve Dog

fluorine is very pale yellow, chlorine is yellow-green, and bromine is red-brown. Iodine crystals are shiny purple

Sleeve Dog

gases (Fluorine and Chlorine), liquids (Bromine), solids (Iodine and Astatine)

Sleeve Dog

combined with metals, they make salts called metal halides

HISTORY

Halogens have a history of being deadly. The discovery of Fluorine injured, blinded and even killed my scientists. Chlorine combined with hydrochloric acid, as well as sulfuric acid was used as a poisonous gas during World War I. Astatine is so radioactive it has the capacity to kill within seconds with the heat and radiation it gives off during decay.
